In 1938, my grandfather Dr. M.R. DeHaan started a radio program called Detroit Bible Class.

Since then, our friends have grown from a small group of radio listeners to people all over the world who use our Bible-based resources.

Over the years, our name has changed to better reflect the variety of resources we offer. Today we realize that most people recognize who we are by the well-known devotional Our Daily Bread. So we changed our name to Our Daily Bread Ministries to more clearly communicate who we are.

Although our name has changed, our focus remains the same: reaching out to people all around the world with the message of God’s love. We believe this commitment is evident throughout the entire ministry and is reflected in the dedication of over 600 employees and 1,000 volunteers in 37 offices. Our devoted team helps create and distribute more than 60 million resources each year to people in need in more than 150 countries.

We invite you to pray with us that we can continue to help make the life-changing wisdom of the Bible understandable and accessible to all.

Rick DeHaan

President

Some questions you may be asking:

Since 1938, when Detroit Bible Class first began, we changed our name twice in order to meet the growing needs of the ministry. Our research over the last few years indicated it was time to make another change. Despite a presence in over 150 countries, the name RBC Ministries is not widely recognized.

Our research showed that people were more familiar with our daily devotional Our Daily Bread, and had a very positive reaction to this name. Changing our name to a recognized name that people already know and love makes sense. It will connect us more easily with people around the world and help make it easier for us to share who we are and what we do.

Our name has to resonate with the people who use our resources if we want to fulfill our mission at home and throughout the world. It’s not enough for people to only know our devotionals or read the books we publish.

In order to help bring people closer to God, we need to show that our resources are related and can build on each other. With a recognizable name, the trust they have established for Our Daily Bread may be more easily transferred to less familiar resources.

All of our materials help people grow in their relationship to God and better understand His Word. And now, they will all connect more strongly to one singular name: Our Daily Bread Ministries.

No. Although our name is changing, our focus remains the same: reaching out to people all around the world with the message of God’s love.

Our leadership will remain the same, committed to the mission of making the life-changing wisdom of the Bible understandable and accessible to all.

The official name change is January 15, 2015.

The Our Daily Bread Ministries logo is an abstract logo that shows multiple paths, but the most prominent path is that which points upwards. It’s a path that goes both ways. Everything we do is for God. And everything we receive comes from above.

Our research showed that the mark we selected was rated by people around the world as encouraging. This is a key attribute our ministry represents. To many, this mark also represented a tree (growth), wheat (bread of life), pages of the Bible, the Trinity and a cross.

This logo is in line with our mission, our principles, and the core of who we are.

The devotionals and other materials will continue to provide strength and encouragement to people around the world.

However, this is an opportunity to improve all of resources and to make them as fresh and relevant as we can.

Our message of God’s love, wisdom, and guidance will not change.
